NIID in the market

The Netherlands Defence Manufacturers Association, (NIID, Stichting Nederlandse Industriële Inschakeling Defensieopdrachten) furthers optimal mobilisation of the Dutch industry by assignments of the Ministry of Defence. But the NIID does not limit its search for good business opportunities to the Netherlands. The NIID is also active in the market stemming from co-operation between governments and in the market coming from offset orders.
Two billion Euro are invested yearly in the Dutch defence industry.

NIID, for whom?
The NIID is open to any company situated in the Netherlands that develops, produces or maintains products for or delivers services to the Ministry of Defence. Additionally, Dutch institutes, including TNO and National Aerospace Laboratory NLR, that perform research and development linked to the defence industry belong to the target group.

The NIID is a non-profit organisation financed by yearly contributions from its members.

What can the NIID do for you?

NIID as ambassador

The NIID represents its members. The opinions, interests and potential of the members are communicated as efficiently and effectively as possible to the Dutch government, politicians and media. The NIID is in daily contact with the armed forces and consults members of the Parliament on a regular basis. The NIID collectively takes action in name of its members and other national trade organisations when matters of mutual interest in the defence industry need to be addressed. NIID detects

The NIID supports its members with their marketing efforts.
The NIID detects yearly more than a thousand defence projects in the Netherlands and abroad. New projects are announced individually. The members have 24 hours access to the NIID database through the NIID-Net homepage on the World Wide Web and have the possibility to gain extensive information about all known projects. The NIID also maintains a database of important contacts on an operational and policy level to serve its members better.

NIID mediates

The NIID mediates between foreign companies with an offset obligation and Dutch companies. The NIID also attunes this mediation with the Commissariat Military Production of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. On top of that the members are presented to foreign companies that call for tenders in the Netherlands.

NIID stimulates

The NIID mainly aids small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in contacting the national and international contractors and potential Dutch suppliers. In this way the NIID stimulates the contracting of SMEs for the production of defence material.

NIID as a Knowledge Centre

The NIID is a knowledge centre with extensive experience and excellent contacts through out the military world of the navy, army, air force and military police. The NIID consists of a team of nine professionals, all with a technical, industrial or governmental background.

Meetings

On a regular basis the NIID organises special interest meetings for its members. The themes of the meeting vary greatly, from project explanation to bidder?s conferences. Participating companies have the opportunity to present themselves at all meetings. Additionally, each year a symposium is organised with speakers from the Netherlands as well as abroad sharing their visions on developments in the defence industry. In connection with the symposium an exhibition, the ?promo square?, serves as a window for the industry to promote the newest products and services. The symposium offers a unique meeting place for persons active in defence government, politics and industry.

Technology platforms

NIID has joined industrial forces on several technological topics including the Netherlands Industrial Simulator Platform (NISP), the Command and Control Technology Platform (C2TP) and the Netherlands Industrial Fighter Aircraft Replacement Platform (NIFARP). These platforms consist of members from industry and research institutes. When the Ministry of Defence wishes to exchange information the platforms can be addressed directly.
The platforms are meeting places for its members. Additionally, the platforms offer the opportunity to create optimal commercial co-operations between two or more members.
