VDL Groep

The VDL Groep is an international company engaged in the design and production of metal and plastic components as well as finished products. Its head-office is located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. From here, VDL controls its subsidiaries, each having considerable autonomy with respect to management and financial perfomance.

With the foundation of 'Metaalindustrie en Constructiewerkplaats P. van der Leegte' in 1953, the basis was laid for what was later to become the 'VDL Groep'.
Over the years, the company grew at a steady pace. An important part of the growth was due to acquisitions in the supply sector, yet since the nineties also companies in the finished goods segment were acquired. Nowadays the VDL Groep encompasses as many as 60 subsidiaries in 14 countries, employing some 4500 men and women.

In the supply sector VDL holds a leading position in the field of metal and plastic working as well as in assembly and surface treatment. The segment of finished products covers a wide variety of products such as: buses, coaches, underframes, automated production systems, sun beds, car roof boxes, products for intensive livestock keeping, systems for air conditioning, heating and cooling, container delivery systems, equipment for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries and suspension systems for the automotive industry and production machines for the cigar industry, as well as packaging machines.

Company profile

Although focused acquisitions have always played an important role in our history, the VDL Groep also strives towards autonomous growth. To achieve this we are constantly looking for improvement of both products and production processes in order to best serve our customers needs. This is why we constantly invest in state of the art machinery, a thorough quality policy and of course superb craftsmanship.

The VDL Groep is characterized by a flat organisational structure, resulting in short lines of command. The company culture is deeply rooted in the 'human factor'. That means we put a lot of appreciation and responsibility on every single person that works for us. This focus on human added value is the cornerstone of the close cooperation between the various companies within the group.
